Oakengates Carnival 2022|

Message from Councillor Stephen Reynolds, Mayor of Oakengates

As we prepare for Christmas, we know the community will be apprehensive about the coming months with the cost-of-living crisis and rising fuel bills. Internationally, many face unimaginable fear and pain, none more so than the people of Ukraine who have been fighting a ruthless enemy that seeks to undermine the Christmas message of Peace on Earth and Goodwill to all mankind.

This year, also saw the death of our longest serving Monarch, Queen Elizabeth II. Following the joyful celebrations for Her Majesties Platinum Jubilee in June, we came together in September to pay tribute to her incredible reign for which we had celebrated just a few months prior. I had the great honour to read the proclamation of King Charles III and I look forward to celebrating the His Majesty, The King’s coronation in May.

We have lots of things to look forward to next in 2023 including Senior Social, Children’s School Holiday Activities and plenty of other brilliant events. We will also continue to run our warm hub which has provided support for many people since starting in November.

On behalf of everyone at Oakengates Town Council, have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
