Oakengates Town Council

Oakengates Town Council meets monthly apart from August. 

 

Full Council meets on the first Tuesday of the month, apart from August, February and November,  at 6pm.

 

Finance & Personnel Committee meets on the third Tuesday of the month, apart from August, January and April at 6pm.

 

Community & Events Committee meets on the third Tuesday of the month, apart from August, January and April at 7pm.

The Town Council is responsible for a variety of services, events and support for the benefit of local residents, community groups and businesses. Some of these include:

  • The Wakes Community Centre & Café
  • Oakengates Town Council Offices
  • St. Johns House (Hartshill Park)
  • Hanging baskets and summer planting
  • Annual Events program, including Oakengates Celebration of Christmas 
  • Venue hire facilities at The Wakes
  • Community grants to support local groups

The Wakes is a versatile, modern and accessible venue that can be used for a wide range of events, activities or meetings.  Our team here are available Monday to Friday to speak with you about your booking. Our community café & bar alongside the onsite hospitality team can cater for events (subject to availability) for the benefit of the community.

The Wakes is a fully licensed, accessible and secure venue. Outside catering is permitted and we welcome all groups to host private and public events here in the heart of Telford.

Volunteers are the heart of a community. Our volunteers support the activities of the Town Council at The Wakes.

 

Our town relies on our volunteers for everything from staffing special events, such as Oakengates Celebration of Christmas to assisting us with daily activities, or supporting community litter picks & planting days.
