Oakengates Carnival 2022, Town News|

In a motion, approved at a meeting of the full Council on 12th January 2021, the Council committed to ensure its activities and operations are carbon negative by 2030.

The impacts of climate change and plastic pollution are causing serious damage around the world. The impact on everyone in Telford and Wrekin is also likely to be profound, with risks to life, property and the environment, if no action is taken.

The Mayor, Councillor Stephen Reynolds said “I was pleased to bring this proposal to council and for it to receive the unanimous support of my fellow Councillors. We hope that Oakengates Town Council will be able to work with residents and businesses to introduce initiatives to reduce the damage to our environment”

Julie Hodgkiss, Town Clerk said “I am excited to implement changes to The Wakes and our new café The Outpost to support the councils aims. From using local suppliers to recyclable materials in our café, our staff will aim to deliver our services in the most sustainable way possible”
